ABOUT
Nida Nielsen was born and grew up in the old town of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, where she received MA in Vilnius Academy of Arts. She has a long career as a graphic designer and a photographer. Nida is currently living and working between Aarhus, Denmark, and Vilnius, Lithuania.
Her works are landscapes of oblique territories between dream and reality. She is intrigued by things that cannot be easily grasped or expressed in words. She explores the ideas of time, place, identity, and memory, all in constant flux.
Most works are made in photogravure – a technique where her photographs are etched into a metal plate and printed with ink, revealing rich matte textures of the paper surface and deep shadows, delicate halftones, and luminous highlights of the intaglio print.
Nida is a member of Fyns Grafiske Værksted and Jydsk Grafisk Værksted.
